On Friday night last, 6 February 2026 in the Slieve Rossa Pub Cavan, the Gallant Challenge Committee presented St Christopher’s Hospice with the proceeds from the 2025 challenge. The total raised was a WHOPPING €45,000 Sincere thanks to Michael Mooney and the Slieve Rossa for hosting Friday night’s event and for the lovely refreshments provided.

The 19th annual Gallant Challenge has raised over €30,000 so far, with donations still coming in. St Christopher’s Hospice would like to hear from you if you have any questions about the services we offer.
St. Christopher’s Hospice was established nearly 40 years ago to provide and maintain residential nursing and convalescent beds and day care for the end of life care of persons (without regard to race, creed or means) who are suffering from any late stage chronic or terminal illness in Cavan and Monaghan.
More recently we have made major progress in agreeing with the Department of Health and the HSE for the provision of a state of the art specialist palliative care inpatient hospice. We recently submitted an application for planning permission to refurbish the existing hospice building including the provision of 16 new hospice bedrooms and a daycare facility.
We hope to go to construction tender in mid 2025 and to commence building by the end of 2025 with a view to opening the new facility to cover the communities of Cavan and Monaghan in late 2027. We will also be conducting a major fundraising drive to meet the shortfall in funds to complete the project.
