The Trustees of St.Christophers Hospice are delighted to announce that they have applied for planning permission for a major extension and refurbishment of the existing Hospice. This vital development, in conjunction with the HSE, involves upgrading the existing facility to a fully fledged integrated Specialist Hospice service – providing the communities of Cavan and Monaghan with access to specialist hospice inpatient beds, home-care, day- care and respite care.
The plans provide for 16 new state-of-the art specialist hospice bedrooms and a major refurbishment to clinical, patient, family and communal areas. It will also include redeveloping & landscaping of the outdoor space and gardens. When completed in 2024, it will greatly enhance the end-of-life palliative care experience for patients and loved ones.
The extension and redevelopment will cost circa €6m. Each new patient room will have all the latest technologies giving patients full control of their environment. All patient rooms will have access to a personal patio overlooking the landscaped gardens.

100% of the core running costs including staff salaries will be funded by the Department of Health/HSE. The HSE will also fund the fit-out costs of approx. €1 m.
Building Fundraising: €3m has been successfully fundraised thus far, but there is an urgent need to raise a further €3m.
We will be actively seeking donations from individuals, companies, and organisations within our community.
