The Cavan County Council Cathaoirleach’s Awards made their return at a packed Cavan Crystal Hotel on Thursday, 4th April with Cathaoirleach Cllr Philip Brady hailing an “inspiring” crowd of almost 200 volunteers and their supporters.
We were delighted to see our very own Ciaran Weir winning the Older People (55+) Award for 2024. Comhghairdeas Ciaran on the much deserved recognition. 👏 😀

St Christopher’s Hospice would like to hear from you if you have any questions about the services we offer.
St. Christopher’s Hospice was established nearly 40 years ago to provide and maintain residential nursing and convalescent beds and day care for the end of life care of persons (without regard to race, creed or means) who are suffering from any late stage chronic or terminal illness in Cavan and Monaghan.
More recently we have made major progress in agreeing with the Department of Health and the HSE for the provision of a state of the art specialist palliative care inpatient hospice. We recently submitted an application for planning permission to refurbish the existing hospice building including the provision of 16 new hospice bedrooms and a daycare facility.
We hope to go to construction tender in mid 2025 and to commence building by the end of 2025 with a view to opening the new facility to cover the communities of Cavan and Monaghan in late 2027. We will also be conducting a major fundraising drive to meet the shortfall in funds to complete the project.
